I am pleased to announce that I have now secured the Tesco Fleetsbridge Community Room on Tuesday’s 6.30pm to 8.30pm for 2 hour workshops. The dates can be found in the shop section and you can book as many or as few as you like.
Hello you lovely bunch, how’s your 2019 progressing? All’s well here at Romany Crafts HQ with stock being made as fast as my fingers will allow!! However, I have had some enquiries asking when the next Knitting up a Storm beginners class will be starting. Answer……..BOOM…….12 April 2019!
The venue is the community room at Tesco Tower Park and I am currently negotiating with Tesco Fleetsbridge as to availability to run a second course there too. It’s all beyond exciting!
So if you know anyone who is interested in learning to knit, developing existing knitting skills or wants to refresh their knitting skills from years ago, why not consider the Knitting up a Storm class.
Bye for now!
So we were wondering……we make stuff that people want to buy….great. But we thought we might flip this on its head and ask you what you would like Romany Crafts to make. Yes, shock, horror! Someone is actually asking the customer what they would like to see for sale on the Romany Crafts website.
What items would you buy if they were part of the Romany Crafts range? Knitted, sewn, paper, mixed media, glassware, you name it and we will see what we can do. We are working on some pebble art at the moment, we made a 1920’s penguin pebble art box frame as a bespoke order 2 days before Christmas (picture attached), so that is one item you may have been thinking of. But we want to know what you would like that you just cannot find anywhere else. You know…..that idea you had for someone, but when you searched the interweb, you couldn’t find anything remotely similar or of the quality you wanted, so you gave them a box of chocolates instead!
We’re excited to hear your suggestions and having a play to create some amazing items which YOU ask for. So come on, what you waiting for, get your thinking caps on and starting posting on our Facebook feed, our glue gun, knitting needles and sewing machine are poised and ready……..
Much love x
Happy New Year to you all! I hope you have all had a wonderful time and made the most of the festivities. Romany Crafts worked right to the bitter end, providing 1 customer with a very last minute order - but it was very much appreciated and a joy to make.
The New Year is an opportunity to make a fresh start and I am proud to announce that Romany Crafts will be attending its very first craft fayre on April 27th 2019. The fayre is a charity event for the Weldmar Hospice in Weymouth and I am really pleased to support the family who are staging the event, so if you want to have a look at Romany Crafts goods first hand and support a worthy charity, why not pop along between 1 and 6pm.
I am hoping to add some new stock lines to the shop too, which will include some exciting new products with a twist. All will be revealed at a later date……..
For now, enjoy the opportunity to make a fresh start and I wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.
Well, here we are fast approaching the end of November and rocketing into December - there’s 5 weeks to Christmas! Scary huh?! Where has this year gone?
Not only is it a busy time for Romany Crafts, but it’s also a very special time - it’s coming up to our first year anniversary! Yes a whole year of Romany Crafts. A whole year of making some exciting goods and seeing them being shipped off to very special homes.
We have lots in store for new makes and developments on existing makes, so watch this space……. and watch out for our celebrations in the coming weeks. In the meantime, give us a like on Facebook and show your support for small businesses by checking out what you could buy from a small business before heading off to the big name brands.
So the first beginners class has finished and the ladies are proudly showing off their beautiful owls and scarf’s. Within 6 weeks, from never having picked up a set of knitting needles, to having completed an owl, a scarf and progressing on to knitting 7 more owls, panda’s and plans to knit a multitude of other items, Helen has found a new hobby that, in her word, “is amazing!”.
It’s been an absolute joy to teach these ladies a new skill or brush up what they already knew but needed a confidence boost. I really look forward to teaching more.
Thanks ladies, you’ve been awesome!
Well, the ladies are halfway through their beginners course and appear to be really enjoying it! So far they have learned to cast on 2 ways, knit, purl, change colour and cast off. They’ve also learned about tension and tension squares, yarn weight and needle sizes required for different yarn weights. They have all been surprised at how quickly they have learned and how easy it is once you know how!
The next beginners course will start on 5th November 2018 and hopefully a new cohort of fresh shiny keen faces will be rocking up on the evening to learn a new skill and be in a position to pass on their skill to future generations as well.
Well, what can I say! I opened up shop in Tesco Fleetsbridge Community Room for an hour an a half on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. There was lots of interest in the board, and a little boy ran in all excited thinking I was his Jiggly Wigglers group.....not to be deterred by the fact that I wasn't, he nagged his mum to let him have a go at knitting.......I was quite blown away. It was all good fun.
Watch this space for some 2 hour workshops that I will be running in addition to the courses over the winter months.......after all......what else if there to do on a wet and windy winters day than craft and knit!!?!
Catch you all again soon.
How very exciting! Romany Crafts is very proud to announce Knitting up a Storm's first beginners knitting class. The class will start on Monday 17th September 2018 at 8pm to 10pm in the Tesco Community Room, Fleetsbridge Tesco, Poole, and will run for 6 consecutive Mondays. If you would like to book a place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us via the "contact" page.
The class will provide practical teaching on everything to get you started with your knitting, from casting on, to reading a pattern, to increasing, decreasing, needle sizes and yarn types through to casting off and finishing off an item.
There will also be a Facebook group for those who attend to share their items, questions and issues in between the classes, so there will be nothing to stop you knitting in between the classes either.
Not sure if committing to a 6 week class is right for you? Why not come along to a taster session to give it a try. There is a nominal charge of £2.50 per person for the taster session and the next one will be on Friday 7th September 2018 at 3.30pm to 5pm. If you would like to come along or get more information about the taster sessions, please email email@example.com or via the "contact" page.
That's it for now.......very much looking forward to welcoming more people into the world of knitting!
